With ChatGPT, professors can assess student understanding quickly and accurately and use conversation to customize and enhance learning. Furthermore, ChatGPT can be used to help facilitate debates and promote critical thinking by providing in-depth analysis and opinions on a range of topics and arguments.

ChatGPT can help students think critically in calculus by providing them with resource materials and example questions. For example, students can type in a calculus-related question, such as “How do I solve this equation?” and ChatGPT will provide them with step-by-step instructions and hints to help them think through the problem. ChatGPT can also help students talk through tough calculus problems and think through them logically. Students can be provided with multiple approaches and strategies to work through a problem and can make judgments on which ones are the most helpful.
