Hi! I’m a penguin expert, TED speaker, and award-winning author. My mission is to raise awareness and funding to protect Threatened and Endangered penguins. To that end, I donate 20% of the proceeds from my books and from every public appearance to penguin conservation. 🐧 My first book, The Great Penguin Rescue, chronicles my experiences helping to manage the rescue of 40,000 penguins from the Treasure oil spill in South Africa. At the time, I was a Penguin Aquarist at Boston’s New England Aquarium. My first book for children, All About Penguins, was published in December of 2020. 📚 I love sharing my passion for penguins with others, and I provide engaging presentations about penguins - and about pursuing your wildest dreams - to kids and adults of all ages. I teach (virtually for now) at grade schools, universities, libraries, museums, conferences, and other venues, and am a frequent guest expert on radio, podcasts, and TV in the US and abroad. 🎤 I’ve spoken on four TEDx stages, and wrote and narrated an animated video about penguin conservation for TED-Ed.
