"I was told of a brother who travels to preach and publishes online content. A senior seeker of knowledge advised him to complete his studies in Islam before trying to promote himself in this way and put himself in such a position of authority & responsibility. He replied, "I don't have time." If you have time for making online content & traveling to preach, you have time to finish your learning. This is a matter of priorities, not time. Will you do your best to learn first and make sure you are preaching/teaching Islam accurately? Anyone who is preaching or teaching Islam needs to be constantly vigilant and monitor themselves carefully. Are you doing this because you want to please Allah, pay your ‘zakat’ on what you have learned and be of service to the ummah? Or are you lying to yourself and doing it to either fill your pockets and/or fulfill a desire to be heard, seen and known?
