After obtaining my acupuncture license from the state of California in 1995, I went into private practice that was based on an integrative medicine paradigm that emphasized a functional medicine approach. In the late 1990’s I began an intensive research focus on the risk factors associated with Alzheimer’s disease after realized that I had a health history that put my cognitive function and brain at risk for the onset of a dementia as I aged. For the last twenty plus years, my passion and focus has centered on the metabolic and biochemical underpinnings associated with the increased risk for Alzheimer’s disease, and the progressive research that is building the foundation for Alzheimer’s and dementia prevention strategies. My mission for the past twelve years has come to partial fruition with my new book, The Diabetic Brain In Alzheimer’s Disease that was published in 2019.
