"Honoring his roots in Tembisa, an informal town in the east rand of Johannesburg, South Africa, saxophonist Ofentse Moses Sebula reflects on his musical journey. At the age of 9, Sebula's love for music blossomed, guided by Mr. Jerry Molelekwa, father of the late Moses Taiwa Molelekwa, becoming his life mentor. Joining the Moses Taiwa Molelekwa Art Foundation in 2012, Sebula graduated to the Taiwa Jazz Band after 5 years of learning and performing alongside jazz luminaries. Under Kelly Bell's guidance in 2017, he joined the Standard Bank National School's Big Band and later the National Youth Band in 2018, earning acclaim for his composition 'Lost Souls.' Sebula has shared stages with Jazz icons and excelled in collaborations with global projects. His album 'H.O.P.E' marked a significant milestone while graduating cum laude from Tshwane University of Technology. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Sebula stood out in the Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Band of 2021 and 2022, showcasing his musical prowess under the direction of Nduduzo Makhatini and trumpeter Mandla Mlangeni. A 2022 Golden Key International Honour Society member, Moses Sebula is a musical prodigy evolving into a potent force in his generation."
